Serrated Knife
A serrated knife, commonly known as serrated or serrated blades, refers to a knife that has a serrated blade or teeth along the edge. They are used universally for cutting harder surfaces. There are many attributes that make serrated knives popular with the masses. The pocket knife with a serrated edge has established itself enormously due to its improved cutting ability.
There are many tiny, razor-sharp points along the edge of the serrated knife. The food to be cut does not come into direct contact with such a jagged edge and therefore the force applied at each contact point is slightly greater and the contact points are at a more acute angle with the food to be cut. All of this eventually leads to slicing of food in the line of the serrated blade.
Serrated Blade
A serrated blade works for one thing; the niche increases the actual cutting surface of the knife. The teeth of the serrated edge pierce the surface of the material to be cut and protect the niche cutting edge from blunting. Second, serrated knives don’t need to be sharpened as frequently as straight blades.
Third, the teeth, or serrated edges, make serrated knives perfect for slicing things that are hard on the outside and soft on the inside, like bread or tomatoes. They also mostly get along well with fibrous foods like celery or cabbage.
One of the key advantages of serrated blades over smooth-edged blades is that they can cut through pretty much anything faster than a straight-edged blade.
Serrated Blade Knives
Serrated blade knives are gaining popularity among kitchen knife manufacturers as these knives retain their edge for a long time without the need for sharpening compared to the plain knives. For example , Henckel ‘s Knife Ever Sharp Line uses micro-serrations to enhance the knife’s sharpness. In addition, these knives do not weigh your pocket, but it is recommended by professionals that cheap serrated knives may not fulfill this role well and wear out quickly, so at least a knife with a fair price should be selected.
To prolong the life of the serrated knife, it is best to sharpen it from time to time. If the knife becomes dull, be sure to sharpen it with a serrated knife sharpener. There are many companies that manufacture the highest quality serrated knife sharpeners to meet customer needs.

My review of the Cold Steel K-7 kitchen knife
Cold Steel is known for making quality cutting tools at a reasonable price. Their K-7 kitchen knives may be the best bargain for the money they’ve ever made.
For years I’ve spent $100-$200 on kitchen knives that claim to offer superior cutting performance. I’ve almost always been disappointed after spending so much money on just one knife. When Cold Steel re-released their K-7 kitchen knife with a suggested retail price of $36.99, I had to see if they really were offering a diamond in the rough.
What I like about the knife:
- You don’t have to worry about sharpening your K-7 Messer selber bauen at all. Cold Steel uses VG-1 stainless steel in the blade, which is known for staying sharp even after repeated use.
- Your blade is far less likely to detach from the handle or break. The Cold Steel K-7 kitchen knife is made with a full tang. This means that the blade steel reaches to the end of the handle.
- It gives you all the cutting power of a high-end chef’s knife at about half the price. The 7 inch blade is the perfect length for slicing lots of food at once.
- The razor-sharp blade lets you make super-thin slices. With a thickness of 1.5 mm, the K-7 is ideal for preparing vegetables, fruit or meat.
- The checkered kraton handle gives you an amazing grip. Even if your handle gets wet or slimy, you probably won’t have a problem with the knife falling or slipping out of your hand.
What I did not like:
The only thing I can think of is that the blade could be a bit thicker. While it offers wonderful cutting power, the super thin edge makes it a little prone to cracking or chipping when used on frozen foods.
In total:
For the money, the Cold Steel K-7 kitchen knife is the best I’ve ever had.
You’ll be glad to have this affordable slicer in your kitchen.
