What is Anti Aging?
Anti Aging is a fairly broad term that means different things depending on who you ask. But the strict scientific definition of the world includes three concepts: slowing, stopping, or even reversing the natural aging signs in a human body (primarily focused on the skin).
It is a set of cosmetic treatments (fillers, laser, anti-wrinkles treatments, etc.) that reduce the signs of aging in an individual. It could be just one treatment (for example cheek fillers) multiple treatments taken together to achieve an overall younger appearance.
Here are 5 things we recommend you know about Anti Aging Treatments before you consider getting one
1. Anti Aging without surgery is possible
It is often (mistakenly) believed that achieving a younger look is not possible without taking the surgical route. And while this view may be accurate for middle or old-aged people with advanced aging signs in their skin, it is not true for the majority of people who have started to experience aging.
There are treatments available (such as creams or laser treatments) that can work for many of your aging signs (such as wrinkles or fine lines in the skin). These solutions are effective to a degree and should definitely be among your considerations before you think about surgical options.
2. Anti Aging and Anti Wrinkle creams can also be utilized
There are many (probably hundreds or even thousands) of Anti Aging and Anti Wrinkles creams that promise a lot. Most of them will not do what they promise (or at least to the degree they promise them). But they are not useless.
Many Anti Aging creams actually do work to some extent. As explained before, if your aging signs are not progressed beyond a point, you can go for creams to reduce some of those aging effects. You will, however, need to do some research before deciding on a cream that really works for you.
3. Anti Aging is actually effective
Aging is a natural process. There is no 100% efficient technique that can completely stop, let alone reverse, actual aging. But Anti Aging Treatments are effective in removing some of the most apparent signs of aging (especially in your skin) and allow you to have an overall more youthful look for a longer time than you would otherwise have had. They are effective in the slowing down part of Anti Aging explained above.
4. Anti Aging with sunscreen is important
Exposure to sunlight (that contains harmful UV rays) can not affect your skin tone, it can also damage your skin and accelerate its natural aging process. This is where sunscreens come in. They allow us to spend time out in the sun without having to face its harsh consequences. Sunscreens should be an important part of your Anti Aging skincare routine.
5. Anti Aging to start in your 20s
Apart from using sunscreens to protect your skin from the harmful effects of the sun, you need to start doing other things in your 20s that will help with your Anti Aging goals later on in life. These include:
- Avoiding smoking and drugs
- Avoiding frequent usage of Retinoid
- Controlling acne to avoid scars
- Keeping an active skincare routine such as moisturizers and facewashes etc
Your battle against natural aging will always be an uphill task, and it will get harder as you get older, and you will eventually lose. But that doesn’t mean you have to start showing signs of old age in your 30s, 40s, or even in your 50s. You can certainly delay those effects for a decade or two if you are smart with your Anti Aging strategy from a very early stage!
