Resignation Letter, Just say the position you’re quitting from and the effective date at the outset; there’s no need to be vague or inventive. You undoubtedly told your manager why you were leaving, but you don’t need to go into detail here; keeping it straightforward is acceptable. (I guess there’s no need to make an “I quit” video.)
The Basics of a Resignation Letter
Just say the position you’re quitting from and the effective date at the outset; there’s no need to be vague or inventive. You undoubtedly told your manager why you were leaving, but you don’t need to go into detail here; keeping it straightforward is acceptable. (I guess there’s no need to make a “I quit” video.)
Dear [Your Boss’ Name],

Thank you so much for giving me the chance to work in this position for the past [number of years]. I’ve learned [a few particular things you’ve learned on the job] and have tremendously loved and valued the opportunity I’ve had to [some of your favorite job tasks], all of which I will carry with me throughout my career.
The Hand-off
Finally, let them know that you’re willing to assist with the transfer. I’ll make every effort for the next two weeks to complete my tasks and mentor the other team members. If there is anything further I can do to help with the transition, kindly let me know.
I wish the business ongoing success and look forward to keeping in touch.
Sincerely,

Example #1
Dear Mr. Don Cohen,
Accept this letter as official notice that I’m leaving my job as an account executive with Marketing Media. Thursday, March 2 will be my last day.
I sincerely appreciate the chance to hold this role for the previous six years. I’ve learned so much about marketing strategy and the digital media space, which I will undoubtedly take with me throughout my career. I’ve also greatly enjoyed and appreciated the opportunities I’ve had to expand our sales team and pipeline, collaborate with my fellow colleagues, and be a part of creating a great product.
Over the next two weeks, I’ll exert every effort to finish my tasks and instruct the other team members. If there is anything else I can do to support you during this transition, kindly let me know.
I wish the business ongoing success and look forward to keeping in touch.
Sincerely,
Anne Acharya
Example #2
Dear Ms. Fran Braden,
I’m writing to formally inform you that, effective of July 31, I will no longer be serving as office manager for Larry and Keets Financial Partners.
I recently received a job offer to work as an executive assistant at a small business, and after giving it some thought, I’m eager to take this next step in my professional development.
I’m tremendously appreciative of the opportunity I’ve had over the past four years working on the Operations team. Working for such a great organisation and contributing to Larry and Keets’ objective to better support older employees financially has been a wonderful experience.
If there is any way I can help with this transition, kindly let me know. I appreciate all of your advice. Best of luck to you, and I look forward to staying in touch.
Sincerely,
Lee George
Naturally, feel free to modify this slightly in light of your experience and your company’s culture before submitting it in accordance with the standard protocols at your workplace.
You may be sure of two things, though it may languish at HR for all eternity: first, your former boss (and potential reference) will read it and be impressed. And second, it’s a good thing that your resignation letter was excellent and professionally written so that it can be used asa reference if you ever decide to return to your job (hey, it happens).
